Strangest Problem Feeder

Trolligans May 13, 2008 08:32 AM

I have an 07 black rat that's been eating like a champ until 2 weeks ago. Suddenly she no longer hits her food when offered on hemostats, left outside her hide, or even when I place her in a deli cup with the mice and leave her in the closet. I even split the brains but she doesn't act interested. The only way I can get her to eat is if I'm holding her in my left hand and offer her food with my right. Then she doesn't hesitate. But once I put her down, she stops eating.

Has anyone else had this happen or am I the only one with a snake that's completely insane?

If she has been eating good up until 2 weeks ago I wouldn't worry about it what so ever. That does not make a problem feeder. Give it a week and offer it food again on tongs if you choose or just put it in it's cage and leave it for a few hours (I put a meal in in the evening and leave it overnight). If it's not in the mood give it another week and offer food again. Sometimes snakes will just decide to not feed for a while due to mating instincts or whatever and then start back up once they are ready again. Randy
