Another Twist to the Paradigm Project!

EKSL May 14, 2008 09:17 AM

I got a surprise from the Paradigm X Anery type 2 breeding. Not exactly what I was hoping for but exciting nevertheless. There were only 3 babies and the rest slugs.
Now what is making me scratch my head is all 3 babies look ANERY! I spoke with Big Mike about this and showed him pics and we are both left wondering what happened. They look to be definite ANERY TYPE 2 PARAHETS!!
I do have some ideas to what happened but I thought I'd share the topic and see what others have to say.....Thanks once again to Big Mike and Steph for the Paradigm project and all their help.
Here are some pics and thanks for looking

My guess is that a type 2 anery male was in a cage in the same room and he snuck out of his cage (by the way, this type to male is really freakin' talented) and then went into the cage that you had the type 2 and paradigm in and punked the paradigm boa and hooked up with the female. That must be what happened, because anything else is just crazy.

Now my crazy guess is that if you breed those to something with type 2 and sharp genes you will get paradigms and anery paradigms. Don’t know about all the slugs though. Maybe the sharp gene and that type 2 gene are not meant to be. But those that are left have to be het for boa woman Carmel hypo. I think that the Carmel hypo is the morph that we all need to look into more, and I also think that it just went up in price... Just my opinion and they are wrong all the time.

The kids look great! Sorry about the slugs....

I really dont think that this is a twist to the paradigm, this type of stuff happens sometimes. JMHO
Was the paradigm the ONLY male that had contact with this girl??

Is this anery type 2 compatable with type 1? And the para just happened to be a het for anery? Maybe, although I hope it's not the case, they aren't really anery?
Whatever the case, rock on, those are sweet! Too bad about all the pills. Can't wait to see post-shed pics. You much be excited.

I'd like to thanks everyone for all the comments and interest. I honestly still don't know what happened all I have is the background history of the parents and breedings. I hope to answer some of the questions the best I can so please bear with me! I am still as confused as the next person

1. Father is an 06 Paradigm from Big Mike. He was the lightest and cleanest of that litter and probably the lightest and cleanest of all the Paradigms produced to date. That's a quote from Big Mike...not be just bragging about my boy

2. The female is a Anery Type 2 and is well over 5 years old. That's the furthest age I can trace her back right now.

3. The male has never been bred before, the female has been proven many times.

4. The female's last Breeding was from a male CA het T and no babies from that litter was a visual anery. So it could not been from sperm retention from him or at least 1 baby would have came out anery.

5. I own no other Anery type 2 other than this female. So there is NO chance a anery male had his thing with her...lol

6. Her P.O.S. was on Feb.03.2008 and the litter was born May.13.2008. I honestly thought she did not take as she did not grow fuller as time passed. Also it was the Paradigm's rookie year and he is only a 2006. I only witnessed copulation once, but he did court her for quite some time...it took him awhile before he got it done. Inexperience...

Well that's all the info I have and hope I didn't forget anything. I really am not putting my hopes up, they could be parthenogenics birth or they could be something totally new! I'm excited nevertheless. I also just happy that the mother and the 3 kids are doing fine. I was gonna sex them, but decided not to until they shed. I always wait til first shed to probe my babies and figure why change things.
Thanks again and if there's any other questions or more discussions and opinions....please post away!

Wow-Looks like you had a litter that is the result of parthenogenosis(virgin birth or clones of the mother)Of course you will have to prove that they don't have genes from the father. Great Find thanks for sharing
