Squaretail x Salmon Babies

wetceal May 14, 2008 12:35 PM

We had a small litter a couple of days ago and I just so happened to catch the birthing! This was a first time litter for this female. She was a possible Super Salmon but ended up not proving out to be a super. However, she definitely passed on her awesome coloration to her babies!

This was a breeding between a male Squaretail and the female Salmon so we ended up with a nice litter of Normals het. Squaretail and Salmons het. Squaretail. There are definitely a couple of keepers in this litter!

Thanks for looking,
Celia

Great pictures. It will be interesting to see what the hypo gene does to the sqaretail pattern. They should be really colorfull adults.

Great litter Celia! Too bad the mom wasn't a super, but those sure are some super looking kiddos there. I love the squartail look, I wonder what the hypo genes will do to the pattern?
Congrats!

between what is best; your pictures or the subject matter of your pictures. Outstanding photos and outrageous animals. How about that. Both Top Rate!

Thanks Mark! Here is a photo of mom while she was giving birth. It's not a great photo of her but you can get an idea of how much color she has and how clean her pattern is. I especially like her eyes!

Here are a couple of old photos of dad. It's funny but I actually took these photos of dad two years ago on the exact same day the babies were born - May 11th! LOL...

I'm just as excited about this litter and I'm glad to see that there's quite a bit of interest in it too! I don't know what the Hypo gene will do to the Squaretail pattern but it will certainly be very interesting to find out!

I'm also curious to see some more designer Squaretail morphs like Sunglow Squaretails, Ghost Squaretails, etc. I think there's a lot of potential with this morph and it's nice to see other breeders starting to produce some designer Squaretail morphs too!
