shiny black snake with large bright yel

i just saw a 2 ft. snake that was shiny black and had large bright yellow irregular bands... is this a kind of king snake? i live in the north central georgia area, suburbs within small wooded area.

Yep, sounds like the eastern kingsnake, AKA chain king, swamp whomper, thundersnake, etc.
