Odd Spot on Baby

medyssa May 14, 2008 11:43 PM

So I noticed the yesterday while taking pictures that one of the babies (a boy btw) has an odd white spot in one of his crescents. I have heard with BCIs that this might denote the snake has the genetics for albinism??
From what I have heard this is a load of crock, but just wondering if there has been any other developments in this area of "predicting" the hidden genetics of a snake?
I just think the spot is cool.
Here's the best picture I could get. Its just one scale that is white.

Very neat indeed! You sure it isn't urate stuck on there? It's hard to tell from the pictures. If it is a white scale... that sure is something different.

I don't think there is a good way to "predict" genetically what a snake is "packing" If there was it would be a phenotype, not a genotype, but calicoes sometimes come out normal looking and get white spots as they age... I believe. Just a thought. Either way I'd hold onto that one for a few years and see! Or you could sell it to me and I'll hold on to it for a few years and see LOL

Sorry, someone already asked for her. I will be holding onto the babies for a few weeks before making any decisions, and I had already picked this one out as my possible keeper.
We'll see though.

Looks like a photographic eye highlight from studio lights. Great placement for the white scale. Good luck with it being something significant.
