A screen top doesn't trap moisture now some of the combo glass/screen combo's will trap a certain amount of water. Though if you only have a water dish in the habitat it shouldn't be an issue due to how little water there actually is in comparison with the overall space the habitat provides.

I would never have a habitat without a top due to the athletics of our collared friends, unfriendly intrusions by family, friends, and pets. So I'd recommend going with a screen as they do not capture that much moisture.

I have screen lids or no lids, and none of my lizards are ever dehydrated or overhydrated. They are in perfect health, confirmed by my vet who sees them regularly.

I mist or bathe my lizards every day or every other day, feed even my collared greens and salad, and I provide a very shallow water dish for the collared.

If you are trying to keep a bogor marsh lizard, then you might want to consider using aless open enclosure. But collareds are semidesert species, and cannot use as much humidity in their environment like arboreal or marsh lizards can. Too much humidity for them can cause Respiratory infections.

BTW, when I say that some of my vivs have no lids, I mean that they are completely open, no cover at all.

Collaredsguy, you are a good keeper, trying to learn the best way to care for your lizards. You have a good heart, Darlin'.

well thank you however i feel thats a bit of an overstatement since my record is short with them an ive already lost a guy in the neghborhood however I appreciate the compliment. i care for these guys alot as an investment, pets, friends, even family. but since there are so many oppinions on this forum and other forums i write on, im not sure who to believe? thats why i have to resort to experts. As much as i dislike science( haha didnt get good grades and religious reasons) i have found expert articles about MBD and heating, and lighting and have found that it is very benificial for vitamin b2 and bone development in reptiles. luckily my boy doesnt have that. hes just using a defense mechanism. thank god!! his belly is all normal!! hes got a big lump on his hip though. maybe a broken bone that healed. well there ya go, thank you for the compliment!!

Are you addressing me or Eve? It sounds like you are bashing her post, and that is a shame, because I don't know of a keeper that has healthier and more beautiful collared lizards than Eve. You would do well to heed her advice. I do. BTW, this ain't your thread. Its a thread about lids, period.

I do not agree with your husbandry practices and as I said in the deleted post, I do not wish to engage with you on the matter any further.
