Upscale, Have a TX Coral question

Don May 17, 2008 03:12 PM

Saw the pictures of your Corals posted below, and noticed you have them on newspaper. Is this how you keep them all the time? I have mine on potting soil with leaf litter and moss. Over the last week, one has made what I believe to be a nest, like a cobra would make. She has scraped all the leaves and moss into a pile, and has not come out of it. Ever seen or heard of this before?

Wow very cool behavior. I have never seen that with a coral, I guess. Mine are Easterns. Every snake will sort of make themselves comfortable, but not exactly what you’d describe as nest building. I keep mine on newspaper with sterilite tubs filled with burrowing medium, such as pine bark nuggets, aspen, etc. They are almost always just sitting on the newspaper in plain sight. They don’t even get under the paper. I might be missing out on some natural behaviors like you witnessed by not keeping them in a more natural set up.
