veiled eyes closed

smcallister Aug 31, 2003 11:04 AM

i just took my veiled to the vet yesterday for a check up. she said everything was fine with him, looked a little thin, but other than that, perfectly healthy. ive had trouble making him eat but this is only his first week with me, maybe just still adapting? anyway, he still eats about 3-4 crickets a day, has normal bowel movements, etc.

however, this morning i woke up and he was basking with his eyes closed. he doesn't look sick and his eyes are still bulging. other than the eyes closed, there's no sign of anything wrong.

what should i do??

nothing. wait and see if it continues. if it is still his first week with you, he may still be adjusting

if you find he is basking a lot check the basking temp. it should be up around 100. if it isn't try adding another light. if the basking temp is low that may also be why he isn't eating much. Also, an extra light will help make his cage lighter, and may stimulate his metabolism.
