My Problem Child

First Off... In your experiences, how long does it take for a URI to clear?

Secondly... I wanted to post an update on my girl that came in with a couple problems but there's not much to update. She seems to be trucking through it, but it doesn't seem like the URI is showing any signs of subsiding. The vet has me giving her .07cc intramuscular Amikacin every 3 days (for 8 total treatments, I'm doing the 4th tomorrow), and nasal drops of Gentocin once a day (she's had them for 5 days total now).

Other than that her color is stunning and her personality is even better!! She hasn't once nipped at me through her treatments or vet visits. I'll post pics when she gets all better. I don't want to stress her any more than is absolutely necessary right now. Thanks again for all your help!! You guys were right on the money!!

Christy,
....You should see improvement within four or five days of starting antibiotics and the snake may seem completely cleared up within 10 or 12 days. Be sure to continue the full course of the antibiotics. Sick snakes will sometimes avoid drinking. When they are getting antibiotics they especially need to be well hydrated. You might try soaking the snake for 15 to 30 minutes every couple of days while on the antibiotics.
Good luck,
Jeff

Best of luck with her, I hope she gets better soon.

Hopefully your feedback to the seller will prevent him from pulling this nonsense on someone else. I guess on the bright side, now you know how to treat any future RI's in your snakes.

Again, best of luck, and post plenty of pictures once she's less stressed out and healthy!

Thanks,
Ed

Sorry she's still feeling punk. My experiences have been along the same lines as Jeff's advice, usually saw a response by about 4-5 days. 12 days in with no improvement, I may be tempted to give my vet a ring for her thoughts.
