My husband and I constructed a cage out of plywood and PVC pipe for Blake. We made a PVC pipe frame that could be easily assembled and dissasembled and then attached the plywood to the frame. The base of the cage is a whole separate pice though. It's a box that fits inside the cage so that the substrate doesn't weight everything down and the base doesn't have to be soemthing that gets broken down, it stays as one large piece. It's also fairly inexpensive to do it this way and still pretty strong. We've also attached shelving onto the plywood so that he has various levels that he can climb onto and explore. He LOVES it!!

One last thing I forgot to mention about Blake's cage. The front of the cage is not made out of wood. We got some pet screen from Home Depot and used that cover the entire front of the cage. There are bolts on either side so I can screw it down tight so that Blake can't push it open. Then when I want to let him out I just roll up the screen. It works pretty well.
