New wild caught yellow rat question

buddygrout May 18, 2008 08:06 PM

I purchased a big yellow ratsnake from a dealer. It is about five ft long and has a yellow/orange color. Here's the problem he is wild caught and was sold to me as such. Is there any general worming/parasite medicine that should be given to wild caughts? He ate three frozen thawed mice the day I brought him home, but I've tried since live mice and freshly dead mice and he seems afraid of them just gives defensive strikes. His poop is also not right, like my captive born rat snakes. I'm going to try to give him some frozen thawed again to see if he will eat them. I still think he needs a dose of something. Thanks for any suggestions.

A ratsnake that big may not get hungry for a while after a meal. I have a 6'6" Texas Rat that was wild caught. He only eats about every 14-20 days. And texas rats are known for being gluttons.
