Is it ok to place a heat mat on the carpet and then sit a cage on top of it or would that be a fire hazard? I have used them for years on racks and plywood but was wondering if carpet would be ok.

No !! put a board under the cage to put it on as it can melt and or catch the carpet on fire . David
