Dwarf Burmese Eggs

jmcmanamon May 19, 2008 12:15 PM

My Dwarf Burmese layed a total of 17 eggs yesterday. 4 look a little undersize but the rest look fine. She was aggressive at the beginning of laying but calmed down after awhile to just a hiss when I would remove the eggs. She has always been a very docile snake and has never bitten me at all. Just aggressive when in shed. The male is also very docile so hopefully the hatchlings will inherit this trait.

Congratulations on the eggs!!! How long have you kept the pair? I have a dwarf male who is very tame as well. I guess many were put off by the initial shipment of adult wild caughts whereby many were very feisty. Dwarf burms are gorgeous creatures tho and their origins are still a big mystery.

I have had both parents since 2004 which is the year they hatched. The female is over 6 feet (maybe 7) and the male is 6 foot and about as thick as a broomstick. I will have to get better measurements. They were locked up a lot this last winter (last one was observed 2/21). I first put them together when a storm was coming in and they both appeared restless.

Congratulations!

What's the size & age of the parents?

Have a good one!

Who did you get yours from?

jmcmanamon May 29, 2008 10:46 AM

I got both from Camlon Reptiles. That's who I got my first ball python (pastel) from as well.
Update: the 4 eggs that looked undersized went bad which I expected. Also took the female out to clean her cage and she was very cooperative. Not even a hiss. She is 5057 grams and 6 and a half feet in length.
