New substrate...

I have a new substrate in my cage. We changed from alfalfa pellets to play sand. My female dug for a little while (she isn't gravid) and my male is digging like crazy. Do they think it is time to hibernate? What are they doing that for? Please help. thanks.

I bought my playsand from HOME DEPOT! THey said it was prewashed but it's still kind of dusty. Is your like this??????

Yeah. Mine is still dusty. I think it will stay that way.
