That is an incredible snake. Just out of curiosity can you post pictures of the adults? How much do they change from juvenile to adult? Do they get darker? Do they get lighter?

Thanks in advance

NoahHart May 20, 2008 01:04 PM

They posted pics of the mom on eggs and she looks just like that baby to me. Really dark.

Very nice and exciting project!

Did you produce some hets this year? Any word yet as to if the small size is part of the morph or maybe just a polygenetic locality thing? I guess you really couldn't know until you grow hets up but it will be very interesting to eventually see if there is any size difference between non het, het, and VPI Black axanthic siblings. But first need to produce hets to even know if it's recessive for sure (maybe it’s co-dom and the originals are all supers or even dominant and the one or more of the animals paired so far are homozygous).

I'll take some pics of the adults and put them on tonight-
I have not bred them to anything else-so no hets. Yes, think the pied or lavender would be good. I am too old to do this I just turned 50!!!!!

You got another 40 years of breeding in you........we'll talk in 2048.

Couldn't agree more!!!! Chicago? Beuller?

RandyRemington May 21, 2008 01:34 AM

If they turn out to be a size morph too I think that would be pretty awesome.

So much to figure out and keep us all busy.
