Question Regarding Cobra Heat Mat Rubbermaid Bin . . .

ScarletFever Aug 31, 2003 01:49 PM

Hey everyone!
I know that a lot of you use rack units and therefore are combining heat tape with Sterilite/Rubbermaid containers. Have any of you experienced warping or melting? I keep my three girls in a large Rubbermaid (light, easy to clean) on top of a malamine nightstand and would like to use a Cobra Heat Mat w/ Velcro for heat. I am concerned about burn/fire risks. Any suggestions on this would be appreciated.
Thank You!

I use Rubbermaid/Sterlite boxes with Cobra heat mats for all my herps (no leos yet!), and have not had any problems with overheating or melting, BUT I use a thermostat to control my temps. A rheostat would work just as well, as long as your room temps are fairly stable. I wouldn't recommend using UTH & Rubbermaids without some sort of temperature control.
