Hi Gordon,
I found this one walking on my patio this morning. I believe it is a Pogonomyrmex californicus queen. There is probably no way to know if it is fertile? Any special way I should handle her to see if she might be?

Cheers!

defintely a queen, at this point if she has not dropped her wings she is probably not fertile. However I have a number of queens of various species which have eggs and still have their wings. Check out the link for some info on rearing pogos, esp this species.
