Pics of sullivan's outdoor pen

shelly78 Aug 31, 2003 02:00 PM

what i did was cut the bottom out of a plastic pool, then turned the pool upsidedown.
i have some of her favorute things in there, her little box and her shoe box, her little and big water dish and thermomiter.
the problem was she could dig her self out of the pool. so i have to put tentstakes in to hold it down.
i have plastic chicken wire on the top( so birds can't capture her).
and an umbrella for a shady area.
is that ok for her on the warm days?

I'd suggest 1:1 supervision. Nice bright light and lush lawn but a few tent stakes and some netting won't keep Sullivan in or critters unfriendly to Sullivan out. Wouldn't take long to dig out if there was an interest...even though just a baby. If you can, you could build a very inexpensive box with a hinged screen top. Would look like a cold frame burried a few inches. Wire mesh on the bottom covered with a good substrate prevents escapes. You could do something for less than $30.

Good luck.

It might have been wiser to just use the kiddie pool without cutting the bottom out of it and to just put some substrate (hay etc) into it for him. Then you would only have to worry about securing it down and putting a protective top on it and the animal would not be able to dig itself out.
