sick dragon?

ecoguard_79 May 21, 2008 07:47 AM

ok so i lost one of my babies the other day (hatched 33 this season)
i hadnt suplemented calcium due to an order error for about 2 weeks
i fed them crix suplemented with juvenile iguana food. i saw one go for it then seize up, it seemed to recover and regain some avtivity, but when i came back later, it was dead,
should i be worried about disease or mbd, or do u think this might just have been a genetic problem, it was about 2 months old, when this happened
oh and i had a little tail nipping issue when they were younger,(overcrowding i think) but these dragons are uninjured

two weeks with no calcium for a very young dragon is not good at all, especially if they are not eating calcium rich greens.

Calcium powder is sold at most pet stores. You could also manage with finely ground human calcium tablets...just have to scrap off the coating then crush the tablets as finely as you can and dust crickets with it.

Cuttlebone could be used in a pinch as well..just finely grind it up into a powder.
