I bought a tegu at a reptile show about 3 weeks ago.The thing is is that he runs all over in the tank and slams into the glass. The other day a saw that his tail came off. Will it grow back? If so does anyone have any pic's of what it will look like. Since them i try to hold him and he has gotten better .

I will be taking more pix's of my herps in about 2 weeks...but when Rocco lost her tail, it grew back all black, lacking any pattern at all.
Keep your substrate moist and some water to soak in and le nature take it's course.
In the meantime you should try covering the tank sides with something opaque to minimize her injuries.
Good Luck!

My Colombian Gold was a bit battle-damaged when I took him in, including missing the end of his tail and the tip of one toe. The first week I had him, he kept whipping his tail against the side of the cage and broke off another 1/2" along the fracture plane. Ouch!

It healed, but never grew back. He's missing about 5" off his tail, which you can kind of see in this pic. The cool thing is his toe is growing back. (He does have front toes, they're just hidden in the fluffy towel.)

Several others here have tegus with regrown tails. Check the Tegu Photo Gallery here for more pics.
