agirlnamedrita May 21, 2008 06:07 PM

placed an add in our local trades paper in the personals section titled TO THE PERSON WHO BOUGHT THE BROWN RAT IN THE RR PET SHOP....and the paper came out today....The person must have seen it because the pet shop lady left us a message (sounding kinda pissed off)..telling us that they are bringing my rat back Friday :D...she has to exchange 2 rats to get mine back...unless she has her supplier bringing back a look alike....I will know when Friday gets here...because if it is a knock off...i WILL know

She should give them the 2 rats, pay for any ads you ran, AND apologize profusely for her carelessness! She has absolutely no reason to be unhappy at the lengths you went to in order to fix her mistake!

agirlnamedrita May 21, 2008 07:12 PM

She is probaly pissed because customers read that add and are saying things to her...AND she may be losing business which it wasn't all that great to begin with

who bought the rat (and read the ad in the paper) call you......instead of the pet shop?? Did you leave your phone # in that ad?
BTW, those are great odds that the person bought the feeder rat, had not yet fed it to a snake, happened to read the ad that you placed in a newspaper and called the pet shop to return it.

Right from the time I read your first post about this incident, I have seen RED FLAGS everywhere!!!!!!!
This whole incident just doesn't make sense..........BUT WOULD MAKE ONE HECK OF A CHILDRENS STORY.
Imagine the tears of joy the children would have from this happy ending. The only way to make it better is if your rat found it's way home all by itself and you heard his tiny little nails scratching at the door. Awwwwwwwww!!!

The reason this rat was so special to us is because she was initially bought as a feeder herself...for our 8 foot boa...she eluded that snake for 5 min...so we took her out and said she is NEVER gonna be snake food...3 days later she had babies...like i said...there was something special about her...her babies we bigger...and developed faster than any of our others...2 rats could have babies the same day....a week later hers were walking around while the other litter were barely showing fuzz...I have never been able to explain or understand how that could be...I would almost swear she was a wild rat hybrid or something...she is bigger than ANY of our adult rats...aome going on 2 years old...and she is all brown...looks like a rat you would see in your tool shed or something...I just hope that this is my rat that Linda is trying to give me back...not just a look alike she got from her supplier...I'll know Friday

Instead the person called the petshop after reading your ad in the paper. You had your number in the ad .......right?

If you had your number in the ad, but yet that person called the petshop, there is definitely something fishy going on at the petshop. Maybe her supplier can't get a look-alike in until Friday.

WAS THE PETSHOP OWNER AWARE OF THE AD you had in the paper?? If so, sorry to say, she is trying to find a similar looking replacement.
If she didn't know you had placed an ad, why didn't the person call you in response to the ad......instead of calling the shop?

well thank you...Charlie is a looker huh...lol

toshamc May 21, 2008 07:38 PM

Sounds to me like she had the rat all along - was probably hoping to turn it into her personal breeder.

Seriously - how many people that are in immediate need of a big rat for snakey food - would still have said rat sitting around a week later and happen upon a classified about it?

Hope it really is your rat - good luck.
