Help me get my subocs to eat...

ROC May 21, 2008 10:36 PM

Alrighty, I've got a pair of subocs less than a year old. I got them from a breeder who had them going strong on live and had no problem switching them to f/t for me. When I got them they ate pretty well. The male would probably eat every other time the female would. It's been about two months since they've eaten. For awhile I had them set up in my dorm room, and they weren't eating, so I figured that once I get them back home in a quieter atmosphere they'll be less stressed and get back on. It's been a couple of tries already and no success. I have them set up in a rack, shoebox size tupperware, hide, water dish, heat on one end, only handle them to clean up. When I feed I feed at night and leave them alone. Any thoughts?? Thanks a lot.

Live prey usually does the trick with sub-ocs. Keep separate and try putting them inside a small cardboard box kept inside their enclosures. Half my 07's prefer live prey with an occasional de-frosted taken. They need a well ventilated cage.
Mine have more holes in them than swiss cheese.

Mike's right-in my experience the most common cause of inappetance in subocs of all ages is lack of sufficient ventilation. If kept in plastic boxes, you need to bore a LOT of holes!

Once that is accomplished-try live prey.
