What is it ??

peteruk Aug 31, 2003 04:07 PM

I just got two of somethings from my friends shop. The person who brought them in didnt know what they were but they are from the same clutch (he brought them in for a friend's friend) As my friend know's that I like something a bit different he put them to one side for me )
To me they look like a corn cross but what do i know ? Can anybody give me an I.D on them ? The brown one is female and the amel is male.

Note the 'skull' type pattern on the head similar to other corn/rat hybrids. Also the tiny, narrow bands similar to bairdi. There are so many stinking hybrids out there these days, you never know. Hopefully its pure corn but my opinion its a hybrid. Just my 2 cents. All I need now is 48 more cents. (go shorty, its ya birfday)

Just by looking I would venture to guess that there is rat snake in the mix. How much or what kind I'm not sure but my guess is some form of guttata/obsoleta mix. Albino black rat to corn maybe?
I could also be completely out of the ball park.
It would be interesting to know but unfortunately I don't think you will ever know for sure if the people who brought them in didn't know.

Do you have a pic? I've heard people refer to a reverse motley before, but I have no idea what one is supposed to look like.

BTW, the snakes pictured don't look like pure corn to me.

Looks like corn X bairdi crosses to me. Don Soderberg had some adults corn X bairdi hybrids a few years back, maybe he can provide some input.

Are we assuming that the 2 snakes are from the same clutch? They look very dissimilar. The "normal" looks alot like a flavifura(sp?).
For some reason, I don't think they are corns at all.
