Springtail help

DKiM128 Aug 31, 2003 04:34 PM

I decided on culturing springtails, in a terrarium I have for plants. The substrate is peat/perlite, but I'm planing on removing a section and adding a new substrate, consisting of, lettuce, long fiber sphagnum, dried leaves, peat moss, actived charcoal, active yeast. The lettus and fiber sphagnum will be run through a food processor, so its nice and milled. Also, I would be adding some fish flakes. Would that be decent for springtails to live in?

Sounds good to me! Thought i am not usre what the carbon will do to the springtails. I use only forest floor for my springs tails and feed them fish flakes. My culture has been going strong for about 6 months.
