indiana jones snake

westtexas May 23, 2008 04:07 PM

i just saw the new indiana jones movie and there was a snake scene in which indiana jones was in a sand pit and his fear of snakes was temporarily surpassed by his desire to live. (oops! i just gave away the whole movie, sorry) im guessing an olive python but in the movie they referred to it as a rat snake. just curious, thanks.

maybe so, and i was wondering the same. but it looked like a live olive python at first. then when he used it as a rope, of course then, it was fake. (darn i keep giving up the plot).

BAH give the plot up. Its been out long enough. It was a good movie, and the snake portion did have me giggling. Of course when I got home friday night, the first thing I did was to check and see if anyone else had a close ID on the snake.

Hubby and I were loosing it because hubby's grandfather talks of these GIANT rat snakes in northern wisconsin that grew to a size of 15 feet. The were HUGE I tell ya.

Watching the old movies is more fun now that I have the reptile knowledge. For some reason however I dont get irritated when they screw with IDs for the sake of the movie. That is usually an irritating point for me. But it must be the magic of Indiana that prevents it.

Some shots did indeed have a live snake, which was being handled rather roughly (obviously not the part where they were pulling on it, though). I was thinking it was an Olive Python as well. Whatever it turns out to be, it's definitely not something you'd stumble across in the middle of Peru.
