What can I do to make my new male pastel from strike at me?
How old is it?
If he is an adult, probably not much you can do. Maybe hold him often, but not so much to stress him out, and he might get used to you some.
If he is a baby, this will be easier.
Babies see everything that moves as something that wants to eat them. As they grow bigger, so does their confidence that they can defend themselves and therefore they mellow out a bit.
Also, handling them as babies will show them that your not going to eat them.
Hold him. Let him crawl through your hands and sit with you & feel your body heat. The ones that want to bite almost always do it initially. Once you pick them up, they forget about biting and settle in and then you can work with them.
