Hondo clutch...

cn013 May 25, 2008 09:09 PM

This girl's first year... five good eggs and she didn't want to let them go. She was paired with the male pictured and they're both het. hypo from Kooij stock. Just hoping for a really nice tricolor outta the batch!

Lets try and call them something other than the kooij line.He didn't start that line and several people across the pond have those exact animals and now several people have them over here from different sources.I have the same animals from Thomas Stephen and I am nopt calling them the Stephen line.
I guess you can call them whatever you want but we really should try to call them the European line or the Germany line etc....

They are the product of peter rice animals crossed with Terry Dunham animals.

Hi Shannon

Chris did not write Kooij line, but rather kooij stock. I find it curious that you make this point , while on your next post you refer to Terry's line of Extremes. Which Terry do you mean and who started that line? Yes, I know the answer.

Yes, Jeff Alloway started that line with triple hets purchased from Dunham but Terry M bought the project and brought it to the fourfront and thats why I would refer to it as Terry M's line and not Jeff's. And it seperates it from Falcon's line .
My bad on not noting the "stock" vs "line".

Well I appreciate the info on the origins of the line... did last time you 'corrected' me as well. As I said these animals are het. hypo -- from Mike Heinrich. He did apparently get them from Jaap... hence the stock reference solely.

Just as well I've taken your 'lead' and actually have been just referring to them as European strain as to not bestow any credit arbitrarily. Just was hoping to be accurate... not inspire any debate.

Anyhow good luck w/ all your hondos this year...

Nice pair Chris and I hope you get a couple of smoking tricolor hypos out of the clutch which would then be Chris's smoking tricolor hypos.

Chris, sorry you took the post wrong and you can call them anything you want. They are yours and whatever you produce you can name and or call whatever. Its just nice to all be on the same page.
So in a year or two when I am producing animals from my Euro line people will know thats its actually the same and they won't see 3 different last names attached to one single "line".
My bad for trying to streamiline or already confusing hobby.

To what you'll be producing... but thanks alot! Here's hoping I'd be happy w/ just one nice tricolor hypo of European origins...

Hey Chris,

Glad this pair produced for you...I thought they weren't going to go this year last time we spoke? (maybe a different pair, I could be confused?)

Either way....I'm excited to see the neonates...I love tri-color hypos!

I hope to produce tri-color hybinos this year...pair pictured below.

Keep us posted...

Hey Rusty... no you are correct actually. I was originally not going to pair them up as I'd have preferred the female be a bit larger. She did switch to rats finally and began to put on some quick weight -- so I figured I'd throw them in together for a 'few' hours and not try to repair them. Idea being if they locked up it'd be a 'one shot deal' and well apparently the guy got his job done. The female did a great job outta the gate... now I'm a bit more optimistic about next season as well!

Thanks,
Chris

I had one female do the same thing...as soon as they take small rats...they are good to go in my opinion!

Thanks Cole... just a single hypo would make it for me... though actually I'm also thinking the 'normals' might be cool as well...

Thanks

I'm really hoping to... hopefully 'my luck' doesn't enter the equation!

Good luck this year to you as well.
