i looked through the photo gallery and it looks like the Va. corn snake pic that cochran posted: http://gallery.pethobbyist.com/index.php?photo=35884 but his colors are bit darker. i could post a pic but its a cell phone pic and its not that great a quality. all they will eat is pinkies? ok thanks anything else i need to know about them?
Wow, that corn snake looks just like a hairless rat! I think you got the picture address wrong. lol
Wild corn snakes will eat rodents, lizards, and birds. It's just easiest to obtain and feed f/t rodents. And they're less likely to have nasty parasites.
You might be able to get it to eat a worm, but that's not what the snake needs to survive and grow.
geeze, i must have copied the url wrong lol. oh well IT happens lol. i know its easier to feed them mice but the nearest pet store is an hour away and at the moment i am without transportation. i have no idea how long it will be before i can get my car back, they seem to be sitting on their hands at the body shop(i hit a deer last sunday night) try this: http://gallery.pethobbyist.com/data/96920IMG_0617_(Small)-med.JPG
Please don't take this in a condescending way, but there is a WHOLE BUNCH more basics you should know about keeping a cornsnake, or any other animal for that matter, than just what it might eat, or not eat. There are a number of basic things regarding environment, temperature, security, etc.. that are extremely important to the well-being of a snake, especially a very young one to help ensure that it will go on to thrive for many years.
Please do yourself(and the snake) a huge favor, and at LEAST do a good number of "google searches" with key words like cornsnake care, cornsnake caresheet, cornsnake husbandry, etc..., so you can at least get a good comparative idea of what they all mention in common. Another way is to go to a pet store(arghh!) and buy an inexpensive booklet on the proper care of cornsnakes. Cornsnakes don't need a ton of complicated care, as a matter of fact, they just need a few basic things, but these few basic things are EXTREMELY important to them being raised, and to feed successfully.
good luck with the youngster!

why are you getting defensive. we've been trying to help you.
Did you read the posts I linked to? If you read the questions and the answers you should be able to garner a lot of the information you need.
Why did you say you don't have any lizards?
Feed it pinkies. If you have a PetCo or PetSmart anywhere near you you can get frozen pinkies at either one.
Get a pinkie, thaw it in warm water, put it and the snake in a small dish such as a glad sandwhich container or deli dish and place it in a dark quite place. Give it an hour or two before you check on it. Chances are the pinkie will be gone when you check on it. If it hasn't eaten the pinkie yet give it more time.
