O/T Dog Fighting

mikebell May 27, 2008 12:30 PM

The winner and new champion is Dixie, due to lack of interest from the big dog, Bristol. Bristol is a 10 yr old pitbull, Dixie is a 6 mo old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. She came here from England two months ago. I co-own her with a veterinarian friend of mine. I was able to "test drive" her for a day to see if both of them would get along. They were instant buddies, and Dixie never went back after the test. I have wanted another dog for years before Bristol got too old, but my wife didn't. I'm so glad they get along great and Melanie had to admit I was right. Hey even I can be right once in a while.

Dixie sits on Bristol all the time.

Beautiful dog!

My fiance really would like a staffordshire bull terrier for our next dog. They are such good dogs, I am surprised that they are not a more popular family pet.

Well, why don't you get one? She is the star of the dog park.

Amy,

They will never be popular here in the US because to the public they are just a "pit bull". There are too many places that you can not even own them, and with AR organizations pushing for sterilization of "pit bulls" Staffies, like the rest of the breeds that are covered by the pit bull moniker are all deemed pure evil.

I on the other hand think these deadly beasts make great family additions. The only group more paranoid about government involvement in their homes than reptile folks are the bully folks.

She wasn't trained to be a thief, that comes natural.

Charlie was over the other day getting some rodents when he noticed Dixie had a hopper mouse. She ate it before we could get it away from her. While we were standing there wondering how she got the mouse, she ran right between us and stuck her head in a small bucket with fuzzies and hoppers, she grabbed a few and ran before we knew what happened. We did get those back from her.

Problem is, I have two very natural mousers (min pins) and an Italian greyhound (who will run right past the mouse)! So, no room for another pup at the moment!

Very cool breed though!

Awww poor Bristol just wants a nap! Dixie is adorable. Its kinda rare for me to see a true staffy. I'm envious.
