Pest Control Company Spraying

rearfang Aug 31, 2003 07:23 PM

Has anyone had an experience with snakes dying due to the spraying of a pest control company which shall remain nameless at this point? We lost 2 Wags plus 6 other snakes within about a week the first time, and then the third Wags about 24 hours after the company sprayed this last time. I have not allowed them to spray since.
Does anyone know about the possible toxic effects of pesticides usually used in residences and snakes? If I can document this, I will suspend the pest control company permanently.
Thanks.

Depending on which "pest" they're treating for, the chemicals can get pretty toxic. I have no doubt that it is possible, and likely probable, that the pest control folks killed your snakes. I would *not* recommend continuing the treatments with the snakes in the house... If your pest issues are significant enough that you feel compelled to have your home treated, then I'd suggest packing up the animals and moving them out temporarily, until the chemicals have a chance to settle out and no longer be in the air...so to speak...
