I think she slugged out

Beaker30 May 27, 2008 01:41 PM

Got eggs today from my green thayeri pair. But I think they are all bad. It was her first clutch and the males first time also. Here are the eggs in the nest box:

And here they are in the Hatch Right going into the incubator:

I am going to incubate them anyway, just in case. At least I'll get practice with my technique if nothing else. Does anyone here see any egg in that clutch that they think may have a shot at hatching?

sorry about that but those are slugs. I've seen it several times mostly w/ 1st year breeder thayeri. You'll get'em next year.

I figured they were all slugs. But I wanted to run it by the experts to see if anyone saw something I may have missed. I was kind of expecting this, but keeping my fingers crossed. With both a first time female and a first time and young male, the odds were high on getting slugs. Thanks for weighing in on the subject.

Sorry for the bad eggs. I've had it happen.
Why do you say " With both a first time female and a first time and young male, the odds were high on getting slugs"?

What a bummer getting a full clutch of slugs. Believe me, I know how you feel.

Sorry Craig..........I too know the feeling. I would keep them in the incubator.... I did have a clutch that looked like that a couple of years ago but two hatched out. I had to really keep the anti fungal on one of them though.

Chris, what were you using as an antifungal? I have a little green on one of my splendida eggs and will be going to Wallyworld to get something.
