Update- FOUND!

medyssa May 27, 2008 01:46 PM

Amazingly, all three of the babies that got out when I failed to close the lid properly have been found!
One was in my room I found it coming out from underneath my bed. Number two my mom found in the bathroom not 20 minutes after I was in there taking a shower before going out Saturday night. And the third and final lost one was scaring my cat in the hall way at 4 am Monday morning. What a scaredy cat!
They are all safe and sound now, on a tightly locked container.

Now learn your lesson

If they possibly can get out, they will!!!!

So glad to hear they were all found and are now safe and sound inside their locked enclosure. You do know that many escapees are never found or not found alive.

Two nights ago I was awaken by a really loud crash! My boyfriend and I both jumped and thought there was an intruder in the house. We had no idea what it was. We got out by the bookshelf and one of the brand new snakes had gotten out. She's a 4 foot hypo BCI. She had gotten onto my bookshelf and knocked down my chemical model kit (you know the kind with the plastic balls for atoms and sticks for bonds... I told you all I was a nerd). I went to put her back in the cage and it was snugly closed (it was one of the new cages I just built). I have no idea how she got out!! The doors slide close, so unless she popped off the vent and put it back or closed the door behind her there was no way out!! Either way, I put her back, duct taped everything but the vent grates and she hasn't escaped again... but wow that can be scary to find a 4 footer hissing at you at 3 am... LOL.

Just wanted to more or less say... I'm glad you found them, and each and every one of us knows how you feel!

LOL....Some years ago my BCI broke out of his cage, or more correctly he took advantage of my inability to make use of the lock. I noticed in the morning when he was curled up in bed beside me. At that point I recalled making note of his arrival during the night, shrugging it off and staying asleep. He had some size to him, somewhere around 5-6 foot I guess. I used to let him cruise around my room when I was awake so I guess I knew he couldnt get out and I was just too lazy to get up and put him away. His wife stayed in the cage. I guess both girls in that room were too lazy to get up that night.

Actually there's something sweet about him wanting to sleep with you (ignoring the fact that you were nice and warm)!

Glad to hear you found your snake!! I am missing a 4 foot male brb at the moment. It has been two weeks now and fear for the worst!!! Colorado is so dry that i am worried that he really dehydrated at this point. I have left water out and tried every method out there to find him. The bad thing is to is that I am in the prccess of building a larger cage for him, and I had him with my six and half foot female for the time being while i was upgrading cage sizes for him. I don't know how he got out, but as we all know they can get out of anything. Does anyone know if ophiophagy occurs in BRBs? That would be the worst case scenario. She really didn't look any fatter than she already is after he went missing.

gfx Jun 01, 2008 12:19 AM

I think ophiophagy is theoretically possible in all snakes, though my guess is that at 6', she'd have been bigger looking or even puked such a large meal. I'd expect he's out somewhere. May want to get a wire cage with a rat in it and a heating pad next to it. Put that out at night and see if he doesnt turn up looking for dinner and a warm bed. Good luck.

Found!!!!!!! I came home to find a fresh shed in my females tank that was a little to small for her. I determined he must be in the frame of the cage. He was able to get up there because I removed the lens to the light and he was able to get up and in. I am so happy!!!
