Is my snake small?

cdcda May 27, 2008 08:30 PM

I have a Boa that was sold to me as a Colombian Boa Constrictor. I think it's a bit small for it's age. It's about three to four years old and I don't think it's even five feet long. If you think it's small is there any way I could safely get it to grow little longer.

Well as far as I know, females should be at least about three years old and six feet when they are bred so I don't think your snake is small. Snakes grow at different rates depending on their food and feeding schedule. It seems to me that your snake was probably raised slower which is a good thing as it can be unhealthy when they are fast raised as their bodies cannot develop at the same rate as they grow. Have fun with your boa!

Is it a male? My female is 7 feet and about 25 pounds at about 5 years old, but my male who is older is only about 6 feet and under 10 pounds.
