Killer diablo amarillo! Is it understood how the hyper xanthic gene works yet? has it been bred out of the blizzard gene?

Paul... Ron never mentions the Eclipse eye Trait in the Xanthic morph. He only mentions the bright GOLDEN Eyes. I will ask Ron to Clarify this for me if he can.

paulnj Jun 02, 2008 07:12 PM

I should have asked him that myself I guess. I know a DB is a HOMOZYGOUS blizzard X raptor, thus the reason I asked about the eye gene missing.

no big deal to me, as I don't work with them at this time. Not to say I won't ever.

Paul... I questioned wheter or not it's a Xanthic myself. I don't see much, if any yellow in the eyes. You are correct though to be a True DB it needs to express the Raptor Eye Trait. Still need to ask Ron if the Xanthics exibit any Eclipse eye Traits.

JME Jun 06, 2008 03:15 PM

It is an Xanthic Diable Blanco produced by Tremper.

pacog69 Jun 08, 2008 12:52 PM

Well how did you come across this male, just curious? You must know Ron well or got Lucky, I recently asked Ron when and if he will relsease the Xanthics and he told me not this year. I have purchased Several animals from Ron in the past so he knows I have the Capital for the project. If you had some better eye pics there would be no question.

JME Jun 08, 2008 10:00 PM

Here are a few pics that I took today comparing different eyes.

Male Xanthic DB:

Female 100% Red Eye DB:

Super Giant Albino:

RAPTOR 100% Het DB

Albino 100% Het DB:

Albino 100% Het DB:

Pictures of eyes are tough but the Xanthic eye color is golden. The first gecko is a Tremper Xanthic DB You're correct, it's going to be a while before they're released as it will take some time to develop enough geckos with this eye color.

JME Jun 08, 2008 10:05 PM

Easier comparison:

pacog69 Jun 10, 2008 11:28 AM

The only problem That is see is I know Ron has also released a few Blanco het DB which have a very similar eye color to the Xanthic you have posted.

JME Jun 10, 2008 09:37 PM

Sorry that I'm not being clear. I did not hatch this gecko, Ron did. It is what Ron calls an Xanthic Diablo Blanco. As it gets older the eye color darkens.

It's difficult for me to capture in pictures but the eye color is unique. I posted pics of a Diablo, RAPTOR, and albino for comparison. With selective breeding the color will become more intense. It should be a fun gene to work with.

brhaco Jun 22, 2008 11:24 PM

Are you saying that is a pic Ron sent you? I know he has not released any Xanthics-and the ones he has produced look a LOT more yellow-eyed than that one, at least in person....
