Thankful

I just want to say Im very thankful for this site. I have not had my Sav long but Ive learned a vast amount of knowledge from here.

Previously I was the person who would see a sick sad animal at the store and get it to rescue it, and you all are right they then replace it with another. The local store to em Ive always found valuable and with healthy animals, until now.

When I got my Sav I chose him out of 2 equal looking monitors. Now 6 weeks later the other still remains but hardly resembles the one Ive cared for and provided the husbandry you all and Bennets book recommends. The pet store monitor has barely grown, is inactive, greyish looking with extra hanging skin (dehydrated?) 3 weeks ago they got a 6 inch hatchling. Today he may be 8 inches and in a small plastic cage. He looks so sad, and spends all his time sleeping in his water bowl.

He was tempting to purchase being so much smaller than my crazy and Im sure wc monitor. But my knowledge from here, and the realization that I could NEVER afford to properly feed 2 growing Savs stopped me and Ill put more energy and money towards "Komodo's" next enclosure.

I just want to say Thank you to everyone here. I have so much more to learn and truly hope I do to give my Sav the best life possible

You know, it's people like you that inspires the people that help out in forums. First off, you listen and then apply - Secondly, you're appreciative.

While most people don't try to help for personal glory, personal recognition, etc, a simple "Thank you!" is appreciated and inspires us to make it thru the next 100 posts or so before we see another "Thank you!" Thanks for being appreciative & sharing your thoughts/feelings.

Whether you realize it or not, at least some of your posts have helped & will help, many others. Thank you for participating.

You've done well to muster up the strength to stay with just one monitor for the time being. It's so easy to get caught up in the whirlwind and take on too much to where we get overwhelmed to the point of neglecting our captives.

Keep up the good work!

Take care!
Mike
