MBK laying pics and a nesting tip

Nokturnel Tom May 28, 2008 04:06 PM

Sometimes people worry about the nest boxes they provide wondering if they're what the snake will feel is a suitable place to lay. If you dont think your snake has the option of finding a dark enough area try this....

A simple solution is cover the cage. I find paper to be excellent because you can make a tiny tear to be used as a window for peeking in. Upon inspection today I saw this

neat huh?

Very! I am glad to see you putting some of the info you find helpful out here. There are a lot of knowledgeable keepers and breeders that don't take the time, and there are a lot that do. I feel sharing info will help us all! What laying medium is that?

I have used that same trick on Reticulated python females, I am a high traffic herp room kind of keeper and needed a way to make them feel secure while I am about my business, works too!!!

I even use the "slit" technique LOL!!!

(slit visible in pic far right)

I have eggs from my Cape York Spotteds, one went bad already and 2 others are dimpled at day 18 into incubation. I just added some water but will add damp moss into my subatrate free incubation as I ruined last years clutch and REALLY want to hatch them this time. I have yearling Childrens and Granite Spotteds too, Stimsons are next for me.

I know you have eggs, tis why I mentioned the spotted's. I read almost all the forums since I have kept or do keep every type of non venomous snake there is to keep (group types).

I currently have Pythons, Boas, and Colubrids.

I have been fortunate enough to breed species from every group. I am lucky like that.

Since you seem to like the smaller Aussie pythons you have quite a group to select from!!!

They are very colubrid like as well when compared to other python species.
