OT - Babies!

WolfenWarrior May 29, 2008 01:32 AM

Woo! My first clutch of eggs ever has hatched! Of the 14 eggs laid by my sunglow motley corn, 13 have hatched into healthy little babies. The 14th wasn't so lucky. It sweated for a few days after the 13th had hatched. I candled it and saw no movement, so I slit it and found out why it hadn't hatched. The baby was dead, and its head was deformed. Bittersweet introduction to breeding, but at least the other 13 are healthy. They all look really funny right now since they haven't shed, but I couldn't resist taking a few pics of them anyways!

They're all fiesty, but this one "S-ed" up so much it made me laugh! It was almost standing up on its tail!

They sure are cute little boogers. That S-ed up one is crazy! I bet if it struck in that position he'd go flying!

I was answering your post. I didn't initially notice that you had already posted some egg hatching photos above, since I usually start responding to the oldest posts before tackling the new stuff.

I'll ask the big ones to smile nice for the camera and see how far that gets me.

I kind of expected they'd be on their branch today, but they're grumping around under their newspaper. I'll see if I can snap some pix of them in their pose next time I feed them.

Congratulations on your baker's dozen of corns. The patterns on those little motleys look lovely; can't wait to see 'em after they shed!
