Baytril for sulcatta URI?

rugbyman2000 May 29, 2008 08:17 AM

Hey guys,
It is getting warm again and a couple of my spurs are starting with the bubbley noses/watery eyes. Does anyone know where to find a weight chart that shows how much baytril they need at certain weights? We also tried flushing out their noses with salene solution last year, which also helped.

Thanks!

(the tortoise is the one on the left)

Hummmm,Its getting "warmer"and your getting bubbly nose? Have a Vet do a culture instead of a random choise of Baytril. It would take a lot for a tortoise that big and its one of the most costly. There are better choises.I dont know why people just think Baytril.Flushed out its nose? How did you do that? Hope it didnt get in the lungs. There may be a good Vet in your area,it looks like a very nice animal.Ive seen them clear up when the weather gets warm,so that kind of baffeled me.Their cooool pets, looks like the dog likes it too. good luck Vic

I should have pointed out the spur in the picture is not the one with bubbles (she's much smaller). But I do notice colds popping up with changes in season, don't you?

Sometimes respratory problems are from a dusty enviroment, not from getting cold.Sence you said it was getting warmed maybe things have got real dry and dusty .Just because they come from a hot dry place doesn't mean they like it.Thats why they dig tunnels, for the humidity. Also hay can get wet and then get a mold started. This mold on the hay is getting walked on by the tort. and it stires up the mold spors that fill the air they are breathing and then a "fungal" infestation can get in the lungs. Its deadly. Some hay is better than others as to having this fungal occurence.I'm not a expert on this species, maybe the Fife bros.or Jeff Gee will chime in.Check it out it could be the dreded V word.
