Maybe it wasn't clear in my post below but I was referring to brand new born babies. Their FIRST shed ever. Does everyone who posted below still give the same answer? How about others? Thanks guys, I have just never heard of this.

I have to be honest there were answers but no answers seem to
be directed at your specific question.I have no experience
with what your asking.
Your asking about how a fem will ovulate twice once from each ovary. How this relates to the offspring first shed if there is
a group correlation. One group (1st ovulation) sheds then the other group (2nd ovulation) sheds corresponding with which
ovary they came from and when it was released from that ovary.
This is what your question is driving at correct?

seen for a baby to shed for the very FIRST time. I have a litter that was born 5 days later than the other yet ALL of the second litter have shed. While the first group had a few shed before the second group but I still have 8-9 that have yet to shed! Thanks!

Ty, I never kept good track of the days when a baby had not shed....I almost always have them shed at 10 days exactly...but there are some straglers at times and I do remember one going 22 days.....but I just never kept track of the rest. Yours is a good theory, about ovulations of the ovaries.

I dont think there is much to be done. Just keep everything in check... try to get them to feed and if everything is right eventually they should shed.

health. Some have eaten and I don't anticipate haveing any trouble with that. I am simply asking who has seen this and what the longest amount of time anyone has seen it take. They are all individually housed in Rhino Raxx and the conditions are optimal! Thanks for the reply though.

Hey, Ty!
Congrats on the litter.
I don’t know what it was, but I ad 2 of the babies born on 4-30 shed on day 25-FIRST SHED. They about gave me a heart attack, but they look great. I was worried, too.
Good luck, buddy!

No problem at all, Ty.
I'm just now looking at my records:
born:4-30-08, most of them shed 5/9-5/10, one 5/14, one 5/15 and TWO 5/25...and of course they were hypos het albino that I could tell had great color!
These are the two dorks that had me waiting. I hold them PERSONALLY responsible for 2 gray hairs.
Good luck, Ty.
Post some pics when they shed.
I LOVE arabesques.
Consider me QUITE jealous.
Congrats again!
Aaron

I have had scores of babies that did not shed at nine, ten or even twelve days. Normally these are small babies, although it has occurred with many Albinos that were normal sized. They go opaque just like everyone else, then clear up but fail to shed. Eventually they go into another shed cycle and usually shed after clearing up again, at that time. This can often be when they are near two months of age. These two babies, in the video below, were twins. They both ate their first meals with everybody else, but shed later. About 15 days after that first meal.

is exactly what they did. They are all albinos except for (4) four arab het albinos and I am sure they went opaque and then cleared up but no shed. I knew someone like you who has had a gazillion babies would know what was up. Thanks Jeff and they love the Rhino Raxx! Oh and cool vidio. And in case I didn't say it already; "Thanks!"

I have not had quite a "gazillion" babies yet. I am still only in the "bazillionz". "Gazillions" will take a while!

I am jumping out of my skin right now... Ihave four females all making nests right now! Could be four litters in one day! I haven't done that before! That would be fun plus it will help me reach my first "gazillion"! I am closing in on the gazillion number though...

I posted as well asking about delayed first sheds, so this thread answered a lot of my questions! I have 3 out of 16 that didn't shed yet from a May 9th litter, and one of those three is an albino, and the smallest in the litter as well!

Great thread! Good luck to everybody!
