Lucy Died

Aisha May 23, 2003 11:15 AM

A couple of weeks ago Lucy had two small eggs then a week later I found a third that had to be hers too. She had a nice big belly(which surpised me since she just had eggs) but a couple days ago I noticed her tail was smaller so I moved her out of her cage so I could watch her more carefully and tried to get a stool sample but she didn't do anything. This morning I woke up and found her dead. It hurt so much.....When I moved her she had a large internal blood spot on her left side and a greenish bruising on her chest. Please can anyone spectulate what happened.... Could it be an internal injury caused from given birth or somehow internal parasites. Aisha (her roommate) is doing fine (eaten like a pig)her tail is huge and has normal looking stool. Please help me fnd out what might have happened it's killing me not to know.

This was the last group of photos I took of Lucy

I am really sorry for your loss. Well, try to take Aisha to another tank or place, and clean hers really good because if lucy had coccidia (parasites) she can get them too. I dont really know what happened!!, it is kind of weird!. I can think of maybe sand impaction or that she really had 4 eggs; laid the firs clucth and out of second clucth just laid one, and may git egg bounded!!. Anyway, i am really sorry.

David.

I'm so sorry...
It's always had when something happens so suddenly.

I'm not sure what would have cause her death...but the greenish coloration would most likely be discoloration after her death. Seems to happen near thier legs, neck or belly. Or at least that was the coloration I noted on a leo I recieved DOA once...
