A good friend of mine bought a Ghost BP from a Guy in FL. and it came in this packaging!
Video Box inside a Fedex Envelope! Cost him $12 to ship a Fedex envelope, but it could cost him a lot more!!!
These are the people that make reptile breeding harder for us all.

1st of all...I would totally disagree with the Heat pack this time of year. Last year I had a guy send me 3 snakes this time of year with a heat pack and all 3 arrived cooked.

I do agree that is a pretty cheap ass way to ship.

The worst I ever had was a shipment from Washington State to me in Miami Florida...3 day priority mail...when I emailed the next day asking where the animals where and they told me priority...I cagged!! But all 3 arrived fine...and 1 of them turned out to be a YB when they where all supposed to be normals.

any pics of the Yellow Belly/??

;......

is the ghost fine.......?..... (I know, different people/posters))

.....

......with prices dropping and dropping ,,,wait and see how cheaply snakes get shipped soon....

....and as for the wondering about African shipped wild balls....they are placed in bags,25 or so to a bag? I forget and then bags lined up in big wooden boxes that are stacked upon one another then dropped into a plane and taken airport to airport.......they seem to do ok........along with all the other kinds of critters in the shipments......lizards,scorpions,snakes,etc etc....

That is BEYOND words as to how incredibly screwed up that is. That POOR SNAKE. No heat pack I'm assuming? Just because it's near june, doesn't mean it doesn't get cold! We're still getting into the low 50's at night here!!!! Good god that's terrible. I'd seriously complain (Or have your friend complain) to this gentleman (or asshat, whichever).... that's seriously ridiculous. Hope the snake is doing well......

OMG What ? .... Could You even think of being shipped or ship like that, a tape box?... I wouldn't want to see a heat pack in a case that small with a ball python. I think it would cook!!! Please blast thier name up here so I can see who it is..

Thats just wrong and I feel sorry for the Snake... They have no right at all shipping,Breeding or even having these Animals.

Definitely do not post the seller's name up here, it will be against the TOS.

However, I do have to agree the packaging was completely inappropriate for a live animal. I had better packaging for crickets. Definite suggest to your friend to email or call the seller, recommend a couple good how to sites on how to package properly to ensure live delivery..if the seller is just a one time thing..probably not going to be too beneficial but it is always possible he didn't know any better..Besides, it probably cost about the same amount to buy some blue insulation foam and get a box from the liquor store....to package it up correctly.

I've had someone send me a snake two day USPS...
snake came in fine, but I was a bit concerned...

I also had someone stuff a snake in an old sock, toss it in a regular box with SOME shredded newspaper, and mail it priority...
that snake was no so lucky...
I emailed the seller to get a refund, and she said her brother mailed it to me and she would "talk to him" and then demanded I mail her the dead snake as proof that it came in dead...
like I was trying to jip her out of $20.
(That's how much the normal female cost me)

I sucked up the loss...sadly.

I agree this is crazy. But just think about what the shipping on the wild caughts is like.

illbeyoursoldier May 30, 2008 09:46 PM

That guy shouldn't have the benefit of even OWNING (let alone breeding, selling, or shipping) ball pythons - or any snakes at all for that matter. If he's that careless in transport that can be very dangerous, imagine how careless he is with their general care.

I would report the sender to the ASPCA and see what they have to say about it to him !!!! David of DS Reptile Rescue

A full grown blood python delivered to me in a regular 'ol box, without insulation and with 2 frozen rabbits lying underneath it. Not to mention it was shipped in November when the temps are 40 or so.
