Butterscotch & Lester Rule 3 of 3!

CSRAJim May 30, 2008 03:12 PM

Chris,

Final photo set...

The interesting aspect of this was she created two egg laying chambers in her substrate below the sphagnum moss...There were 13 eggs in the first one and I found a final 14th egg in the second one...It's the egg in the lower right hand corner of the photo...

Later bro,
Jim.

Chris,

You were right Chris...Butterscotch has two eggs in her and hopefully she'll lay them today...I didn't feel them when I inspected her and I'm wondering if she "held back" their development until she had the room for these two...Lord knows she was full before!

When I was checking out the girls last night, she was very restless and drinking lots of water...The same behavior she exhibited before...When I opened up her enclosure...Viola!!! Two very distinct lumps about 2.5 inches from the vent...Before I went to bed this morning (2:00 AM), she had burrowed deep into the substrate of her egg laying box so I hope I have good news when I get home...

I'll keep you posted if she lays two more...

Later,
Jim.

Chris,

Thank you very much for the information...Most appreciated.

Emma shed yesterday and spends almost all of her time in her egg laying box (the only time I see her out and about is to drink water) so it will not be long now...

Later bro,
Jim.

She never laid 13 eggs for me......................... Just teasing you Jimbo.

I'm really happy for you.

Did she retain any eggs, or did she lay all of them. Her first year she laid 6 or 7 then it took her 2 more days to lay three more. Last year she laid them all one night but there were two groups like 6 and 3 or something like that.

Wow and they all look good too. So how many more females do you have that are gravid?

I concur with Russ those are definately worth cooking

Chris,

When I gave her a post laying physical, it appears as though she laid them all...She felt like an empty tube with skin & scales on it...

She left the 14th egg in a second chamber that I found about an hour later...

Later man and thanks...She's a good girl bro!

And we can't forget about Lester...He certainly did his part for sure...

Jim.

Well, Artax's two eggs still aren't showing any signs of veins, yet they aren't molding or rotting. We shall see with those.

I had a clutch of Cal Kings hatch this weekend... feisty little boogers!
