What are Yellow Bellies?

wmcandrew May 30, 2008 09:57 PM

Ok so I’ve been doing a little bit of browsing and looking through what seems like trillions of different BP morphs but the one that perplexes me the most is the Yellow Belly. I have a few questions about them so maybe someone can enlighten me.

1) What are some fool proof traits that are distinguishable in the appearance of a true genetic (het ivory) yellowbelly?

2) Do they really just "pop up" in collections as often as they seem to according to classifieds and such?

3) How damn cool are Ivories?

Check out nextworldexotics' hunters guide...its great for learning about yellowbellies and a bunch of other morphs....basically want to look for clear bellies with a sort of mottled pattern along the sides of the belly (like a corn snake but way more subtle). Dunno how common "unknown" yellowbellies are in peoples collection, but alot of unproven ones do seem to come in every year. I guess in the wild, the wierd looking balls, like albinos, pieds, and such are more rare cause they are more easy to spot by predators. Yellowbellies look like normals so there are probably more of them crawling around the wild and subsequently get imported. And yes, ivories are pretty damn cool, especially when you through some other genes in there too!
