My females just went into their post shed. I have noticed that they are swelling very much as they get closer to laying. Is this normal and a good sign??

Probably a good sign. The lower third of their bodies do appear quite a bit larger, espacially as fat reserves throughout their bodies get used up to support the developing eggs. Good luck with them!
