I do not know why they are not, but I have heard from many large breeders and vendors that had done the show in the past, that will not be attending this year. Maybe due to travel expense or economy? I really do not know but it is something I have been hearing from a lot of people.

ballmorphsbymike May 31, 2008 11:44 PM

I actually heard the opposite from a lot of people!!! Tables have been sold out for a long time. Either way...im looking to have a fun time and getting to meet a lot of great people in the industry and hope to meet some of you too!

evansnakes Jun 01, 2008 03:42 AM

Tables are always sold out, there are enough dealers and breeders in Florida to fill the show, but what I am saying is that there are many well known "names" that you will not be seeing there this year I guess.

dmasio13 Jun 01, 2008 05:05 AM

I heard from a few reliable sources the same that a one at least if not a couple will not be doing the show this year for different reasons

The vendor list is here http://www.reptilebreedersexpo.com/2008/Expo.pdf

I will be looking for a male pied.
Went last year, it was way cool(not temps lol), lots of stuff to see, lots of good people to talk to.
Vendors seem more willing to cut deals late into the second day.
Hotter than the hubs of hell outside.Humid like a swamp. Not a lot of tourist activity going on that time of year.

Tables are sold out and it,s a great show.I own a monthly show and you would think I would be burned out on shows.I buy alot of my breeder stock at Daytona, see friends from all over the states and just have a good time there.Have not missed one since it started. Terry

Hey, don't pick on our weather. We try to break it up a little for you guys that don't like it so hot, one year we even went so far as to have a hurricane for you. Go figure, people complained about that too. It is hard to please everyone. So we have gone back to the basic sunshine, after all we are the "Sunshine State".

Regardless of who is there or who isn't, it will be a rocking show. My hope is that there will be a much larger variety there this year over the last few.

That is one expensive wish list you have. (What job allows you to sit on the computer and at the smae time blow all that money in one shot?? I'm in the wrong business.) Last year was the first year I went and it was an absolutely awesome time, and now I won't miss it for the world.

But people come every year with thousands of dollars to just blow on reptiles while they're there... I mean, it made me almost feel foolish going last year. We had barely enough money to cover the trip itself! We have more money this year, it's just...

Aren't there any other average joe's that attend the show... like me?? Why do I feel like you should be rich to be there? Cuz if thats the case, I'm not fitting in for a long time.

Im an executive chef...i do allright, but after holidays like memorial day we are usually slow the week after. But normally I work and stay busy for 70-80 hrs/week there. You dont have to be rich to buy the animals you want. JUST SAVE...dont have to max out CC, take out loans....JUST SAVE!!!!

OKReptileRescue Jun 02, 2008 11:38 AM

yup---
We are FAR from rich--- and all the money we have thats "extra" goes to the rescue

We saved up for a year to go to NARBC arlington--- had a bunch of sick snakes come through--- and we had to start saving all over again--
We were able to save enough to get us there and buy 2 things-- the animals we bought totaled 320 $$ ---- the rental truck was over 300, the hotel was 175, then food.... and GAS....

BUT the experience was TOTALLY worth it--- I was almost in tears when we walked in-- I'm used to our show, thats held in a hotel room... about 10 vendors-- pathetic!!

Anyway--- We'll be using next years tax return to get the things we want...

And we are thinking about going to daytona.... mmmm florida....
