I have a pair from Highland Co., Va. and the male looks very similar. The problem with Eastern Milks is that they are so variable, even in the same field. My guess is Norther Virginia/Southern Maryland?

Chris,

I've seen nominate triangulum with orange/peach in the background from Ohio and Kentucky, too.

Whats up? PA and IA? Shannon they are like 400 miles apart right? And you arent even close! Giving you a hard time there you monster, lol. You are so good with all the gentilis, pale, and NM locales...guess you havent kept eastern/red/coastals for a while(hint hint)and are a little rusty. With due respect, the eastern US varieties have been under represented in collections since the popularity of hondurans started. I can do the math, lol. Being a old-time locale guy though I hope you take this tongue in cheek.....Thanks

shannon brown Jun 02, 2008 06:04 PM

LOL, its all good man.I have seen/had animals from both those locales that looked very similiar to it.
Anyway, it is what it is.

to change your prescription, lol. I know, I got some IA reds from you and am STILL hearing about them. But that was a long time ago. The easterns from there are more heavy banded, and the PA animals have alot more black. Figured you got me pretty good TWICE(with the BS thing and the monster milk you posted)and I just wanted you to know I am still in the game. The old addage applies: you cant keep EVERYTHING.

LOL.. you are killing me dude. Its all good.
Hey I swear those were madison county Iowa animals.Kirk Setser collected them and he is a stand up guy.

I went on the other website to post my BS experience....and it took about 1/2 an hour for that crap from 4 years ago to get going again. Not going there again any time soon. I havent heard from Kirk in a while, he moved to AZ I know, but he always had the nicest reds around as you know.J

There are so many subtleties(sp?)with locality milks(color, pattern, head shape, dorsal spacing). Size obviously says northeast, not enough heavy black to be PA or likely western NY....I would guess northern Mass/ southern NH though there is alot of black on the belly for that. It might be northern NY too, but I am going with northern Mass/ NH. And the variability is NEVER a problem.

Yeah, I guess that was a bad choice of words. I really like the variability as well. It definitely makes things interesting
when the eggs start hatching.

Well this has at least shown that e. milks have a tendancy to be highly variable throughout most, if not all, of their range. This animal is another 'island' milk so to speak though not of the big green variety. Try Manhattan...

Thanks for the replies...

I'm w/ Jeff, Manhattan? Wow that is a neat group to be working with. Big too.

Has Mike Panichi been hookin' you up buddy? Nice eastern. Never woulda guessed.

Yeah thanks Jerry... my novice with the NYC area has become sadly apparent. I meant to say Long Island... not Manhattan.... though not too far from it actually! Just the same milks from an obviously limited range... it'd be nice to eventually produce some.

we just gotta get you at a table loaded with hot wings and plenty of dark, ice-cold Pilsner. Take a day off for crissakes! Maybe a cheap shiatsu (NO, not the dog -- the massage...).

Jerry

Tony D Jun 03, 2008 10:55 AM

Pilsners are for pu... I'd put forward a nice ale or stout!

cn013 Jun 03, 2008 11:42 AM

Well you know what Jerry's actually right -- do need a vacation. As for the beer of choice... lately I've been hooked on a Belgian ale actually. I'm told I'm always smiling by my second bottle -- not sure if it's a higher alcohol content or the fact that it's made by monks! Though to keep this somewaht on topic -- even my snakes are taking offense.... If I didn't know better I'd say this aberrant female tyrrell was sticking her tongue out @ me...

JKruse Jun 03, 2008 02:00 PM

now we're talkin'. I was keeping it light for our Miami Vice friend. Maybe I should've offered a margarita. But do keep those temps coming Chris -- you've certainly found your niche.

That's a truly rare milk! How many can exist today? Has a nice ring to it too - "Nickelson Manhattan milk". Last of its kind.....very cool.

Da Bronx to be a bit more precise. Yeah I'm hoping to someday get the ladies big enough to let the big guy go to work.
