My first litter!!!

BoaGal Jun 02, 2008 04:27 PM

I know I haven't been on here recently. But Shimmer, my BRB finally had her babies! I came home today to 18 healthy babies and 1 slug. Here are a couple of group and a few individual pictures. Just double checking, but what temperature should I keep them at?

And here are two of my other babies. I just got them a few weeks ago and they've been keeping me pretty busy. Rufus is the blonde one and Tater Tot is the darker brown one.

Be sure to post more pic's when you can!

Mom looks nice and dark red.

Where's dad?

Also her bands are nice and thick. She may have some Peruvian Blood in her.

Here's dad about a month ago. I've posted pics of him before as his wound is healing. He has shed again since these were taken. His injury seems to heal with every shed and he is back to eating normal sized prey now.

I think they're a little warm right now, so I just turned their heat off. The AC isn't working in our house right now, but it looks like it should be working by tomorrow. I figure I'll plug their heat back in tonight before I go to bed.

I wasn't keeping very good records at the time that she got pregnant. So, I know she ovulated on Jan 1st, because that was the date on my camera pictures. If I remember right, her last shed was a little over two weeks later than that.

Hey, an on topic litter! Really great litter. Congratulations. I'd keep your babies around 75 degrees and high humidity (condensation on walls is a good indication it is high enough)in individual shoe box size rubbermaids. After they shed offer them their first meal and you'll have a high percentage feed (I like to offer live pinky rats, others like to offer hopper mice).
Good luck and keep the pics coming.

Congratualations on the beautiful big litter of BRB babes! Also congrats on the canine duo; "Tater Tot" is a hilarious name!
You are in for loads of fun in the days ahead.
