What size tank should my snake be in?

cowlick Jun 02, 2008 08:19 PM

This snake became mines because someone I know wasn't taking care of him properly; very small tank, fed once a month. He has fattened up quite a bit, he's less nervous, and is mite free now. I feel that he is still in a small tank for his size (20 gallon long) and he's about 30-40 inches long. What size tank should he be in?

I have my Cal. king in a "custom" 46 gal. tank, but basically a 55g. He's young. Only about 22", but I think it should be good. Although, I have found that when it comes to kings, the bigger the cage , the happier the snake.

I don't know but I'm glad that snake finally has a good home, no matter what size it is.

I tend to agree with the advice about kingsnakes liking bigger tanks. I'd go with a 30 gallon long as a minimum or possibly one of the 48" long tanks.

It's not how many snakes you have. It's how happy and healthy you can keep them.
