Are there Indigo Breeders in PA or close

Melisssss Jun 02, 2008 11:29 PM

I would like to see these snakes I have been contemplating for a few years nows in the flesh but have yet to run across any at shows. Mind you, our shows here around Pittsburgh are lacking at best.

Currently I keep retics, burms, bloods, bredli, JCP and a mexican hognose yearling along with some legged odds and ends. I would very much like to see if an Indigo would fit into my household. After feeding 5 retics and 2 burms with all of the other snakes I own...how much more could an Indigo break the bank? As for mess...let's just say I am used to mess

As for breaking the bank, you can figure on about $1000 for a hatchling indigo. Some breeders will try to squeeze another hundred or two out of their efforts, but a thousand is a good ballpark price. As for breeders in PA, Steve Binnig has great animals and is a great guy. He's in the Philly area, so I know he's not exactly local to you, but I've bought Indigos from him in the past and in my opinion, he's the man.
If you're in the mood for a road trip next weekend, there's a show in Hamburg on June 14, and I'm pretty sure there's going to be a 2 year old male there for sale in the venomous aisle. I don't know what the price will be, I just happened to be talking to a vendor who said he was bringing him.
I'm sure my opinion is going to echo those of the other people who frequent this forum when I say if you're going to keep snakes, Indigos are the Gods of the serpent world.
