Question about eggs

Snaker 01 Jun 03, 2008 10:48 AM

I'm just wondering, say a snake lays her eggs and they are all stuck together. Suppose some are horizontal, some are pitched at an angle and maybe some are almost vertical. If it's still possible to separate then, do you try to place them in the egg box or incubator in the same angle they were laid in? I think I know the answer because I've seen plenty of pictures of peoples egg boxes and they are always laid horizontal and in neat rows but I want to know what is the best way to handle this situation.

Put them in the box as you found them. You might want to mark the eggs to help you make sure you have them in the egg box correctly.

there are some pretty pictures of eggs all nice and lined up but there is no need to spearate them. If they are really stuck , you can possibly damage the eggs trying to pull them apart. you can incubate the eggs as they are.

Good luck!

i don't pull the eggs apart...better safe than sorry. i just want hatchlings snakes rather than damage eggs and less snakes to hatch out

I have separated eggs for years and never damaged one. Usually they have been laid within the last 6 hours. However, if they appear to be very firmly attached, I do not separate them. The advantage of separating them is that you can get rid of any eggs that turn bad.
